Texas State Representative Lacey Hull (R-Houston) has pre-filed eight priority bills ahead of the 2025, or 89th, Texas legislative session.
According to an Instagram post from the lawmaker, she looks forward to "continuing to fight to protect children and victims of crime, safeguard parental rights, and address school funding."
Hull’s legislative package includes House Bill (HB) 1422, which supports survivors of sexual assault by creating an option to test sexual assault kits without having to first file a report of assault. HB 1151 enshrines in law that a parent has the right to decline psychotropic or psychological treatment for their child. Additionally, HB 1153 provides additional state funding to school districts that choose to offer a Local Option Homestead Exemption to their taxpayers.
Among the pieces of legislation, HB 1422 is the one Hull is particularly proud of. She said that she looks forward to working on the proposed measures and others come January.
