Rep. Ellen Troxclair has announced her appointment to the Texas House Committees on Delivery of Government Efficiency (DOGE) and Ways & Means, with a focus on reducing taxes, cutting spending, and eliminating waste. The announcement was made in a press release on February 19.

According to Troxclair, the DOGE Committee, established this session, aims to identify inefficiencies and reduce regulations to minimize spending and streamline government operations. She said that her work on the Ways & Means Committee will include efforts to achieve $10 billion in property tax cuts, address the effects of tax policies on families and businesses, and oversee agencies managing Texas' fiscal responsibilities. Troxclair also noted that the DOGE Committee will leverage modern technology to eliminate bureaucratic inefficiencies and cut unnecessary red tape.

"The quality of life for HD-19 and all Texans will be measurably improved by the work we will do this Session in DOGE and Ways & Means," said Troxclair. "Allocating taxpayer funds with maximum efficiency requires that we free Texans from excessive taxation, and that we then use those funds transparently - and to great effect. These Committees speak to the heart of Texans' concerns about cost of living and government bloat. I look forward to helping keep Texas' operations in line with our voter mandate to strengthen and streamline our State."

Troxclair serves Texas House District 19, which includes Blanco, Burnet, Gillespie, Kendall, and western Travis Counties. Elected in 2022, she has served on committees focused on public safety, community safety, and property tax relief. Her legislative work includes efforts related to property tax reductions, border security, sports regulations, and child protection. She is a small business owner, nonprofit leader, former member of the Austin City Council, and author of "Step Up! How to Advocate like a Woman," which focuses on leadership in policy and politics.
