The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) has approved financial assistance totaling $16,870,000 for the City of Honey Grove in Fannin County. This funding includes $6,870,000 in financing and $10,000,000 in principal forgiveness from the Clean Water State Revolving Fund (CWSRF). The funds will be used for planning, acquisition, design, and construction related to improvements in the city's wastewater system.
The project aims to upgrade and expand the capacity of Honey Grove's wastewater treatment plant from 0.5 million gallons per day to 1 million gallons per day. Additionally, the city plans to replace inadequate lines within its collection system.
"The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data," stated a representative from TWDB. The agency also assists with regional water and flood planning while preparing state water and flood plans. It administers financial assistance programs for projects involving water supply construction, wastewater treatment, flood mitigation, and agricultural water conservation.
By utilizing the CWSRF program for this project, Honey Grove could potentially save around $3,100,000 over the life of the loan due to loan forgiveness.
