Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller has announced the designation of March 19th as Texas Agriculture Trade Day. This proclamation highlights the importance of fair agricultural trade in strengthening the state's economy, supporting farmers and ranchers, and sustaining rural communities. The day is set to honor the dedication of Texas's agricultural producers and businesses, whose efforts extend beyond state borders to provide food and clothing globally.

"Fair trade deals and new market opportunities are not just important—they’re essential," said Commissioner Miller. "Our Texas farmers and ranchers are the driving force behind one of the largest economies in the world. They put food on our tables, clothes on our backs, and fuel our economy."

Agricultural exports significantly support rural communities in Texas by creating jobs, fostering innovation, and linking local producers to international markets. Despite recent U.S. agricultural trade deficits, Texas remains a diverse agricultural state, leading in cattle, calves, cotton, sheep, wool, goats, mohair, hay production, and the total number of farms and ranches. The state also ranks high nationally in other agricultural sectors with cash receipts approaching $30 billion annually according to USDA National Agricultural Statistics Service.
