The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) has approved financial assistance amounting to $4,966,000 for the Angelina and Neches River Authority in Angelina County. This funding, sourced from the Rural Water Assistance Fund, is designated for the planning, acquisition, design, and construction of a water system project.

With this approval, improvements will be made to the Central Heights Water System's raw water pump station, water treatment plant, and distribution system. The planned enhancements include a 100,000-gallon storage tank, an 8,000-gallon pressure storage tank, and the construction and replacement of 19,000 linear feet of water lines.

The TWDB is responsible for collecting and disseminating water-related data across the state. It also assists with regional water and flood planning and prepares state water and flood plans. Additionally, the TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs aimed at constructing water supply systems, wastewater treatment facilities, flood mitigation efforts, and agricultural water conservation projects.
