AUSTIN – The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) has approved financial assistance totaling $7,174,307 for the City of De Kalb in Bowie County. The funding includes $3,200,000 in financing and $3,974,307 in principal forgiveness from the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund (DWSRF). This support will be used for the planning, design, and construction of a water system improvement project.

The City of De Kalb is expected to save approximately $1,600,000 over the life of the loan by utilizing the DWSRF. The project involves replacing about 62,000 linear feet of water mains, adding looping to the system, and rehabilitating the city’s elevated storage tank.

The TWDB is responsible for collecting and disseminating water-related data and assisting with regional water and flood planning. It also prepares state water and flood plans and administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for various projects including water supply construction, wastewater treatment, flood mitigation, and agricultural water conservation.
