AUSTIN – The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) has approved financial assistance totaling $2,110,000 for the City of Huntington in Angelina County. This assistance includes $310,000 in financing and $1,800,000 in principal forgiveness from the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund (DWSRF). The funds will be used for planning, acquisition, design, and construction of a drinking water project.

In addition to loan forgiveness, the City is expected to save approximately $138,000 over the life of the loan by utilizing the DWSRF.

The approved assistance will enable Huntington to construct a new water well site adjacent to its existing well property and install new aerators inside its elevated storage tanks.

The TWDB is responsible for collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional water and flood planning, and preparing state water and flood plans. It also administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for projects related to water supply, wastewater treatment, flood mitigation, and agricultural water conservation.
