Rep. Hull announces new bills under Make Texas Healthy Again

Rep. Lacey Hull has introduced a series of legislative proposals under the initiative "Make Texas Healthy Again," which includes key House priorities such as HB 25, HB 26, and HB 136. These bills are aimed at improving nutrition education and promoting healthier living. The announcement was made on March 13 through a post on X.

According to the press release on X, HB 25 aims to establish a nutrition advisory council that will focus on metabolic health and chronic disease. It also seeks to increase physical education requirements, update physician nutrition training, and mandate warning labels on foods containing banned ingredients. Meanwhile, HB 26 proposes offering nutritional counseling as a Medicaid benefit to enhance health outcomes without incurring additional state costs. HB 136 would provide lactation consulting as a Medicaid-covered service to support breastfeeding mothers.

The press release further states that HB 1637 intends to eliminate food dyes from school meals and ban glyphosate herbicides on school grounds. Additionally, HB 1669 would broaden consumer access to raw milk by removing pre-order requirements at farmers' markets and allowing cooperative purchases directly from producers.

Lacey Hull serves as a Texas State Representative for House District 138, having been first elected in 2020. Her committee assignments include human services, insurance, youth health and safety, and government oversight. According to the Texas House of Representatives, Hull has been involved in legislation concerning child welfare, crime victim protection, online safety for children, family rights in education and healthcare, economic development in Houston, and leadership roles within the Republican Caucus as well as bipartisan criminal justice reform efforts.
