Attorney General Ken Paxton has announced an investigation into Hutto Independent School District (ISD) and Richardson ISD regarding their compliance with Texas laws on girls' sports. This announcement was made in a press release on February 10, 2025.

According to the press release, Paxton has expanded his investigation into Texas school districts concerning compliance with state laws on girls' sports, now targeting Hutto ISD and Richardson ISD. His office issued letters to their superintendents following reports that officials in both districts discussed ways to bypass regulations. This follows Paxton’s prior demands for records from Dallas ISD and Irving ISD.

Hutto ISD’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Director, Keyawna Glaze, allegedly advised parents on altering birth certificates to allow male students to participate in girls' sports. Similarly, Richardson ISD’s Executive Director of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion, Angie Lee, reportedly informed a parent that a male student could room with female students on school trips and implied that boys were allowed to compete in girls’ athletics.

"The woke school officials endangering female athletes and trying to undermine girls’ athletics by letting boys compete should know that there will be consequences for all unlawful activity," said Paxton. "I look forward to thoroughly reviewing all documents to determine if these comments are reflective of a systematic, district-wide effort to ignore the law and allow boys to play in girls’ sports. If they are, I can fully assure you that those liable will face justice."

Paxton is the attorney general of Texas, overseeing legal matters, law enforcement, and consumer protection. First elected in 2014 and re-elected in 2018 and 2022, he has led initiatives against human trafficking, federal regulations, and deceptive opioid marketing. His office enforces child support, prosecutes election fraud, and challenges federal policies in court. Paxton previously served in the Texas House and Senate focusing on conservative policies. He holds a law degree from the University of Virginia and has experience in private legal practice.
