Texas State Representative Carl Tepper (R-Lubbock) has filed his initial legislative priorities ahead of the 2025 Texas legislative session.

According to a press release attached to a November 17 tweet attributed to Tepper, he has filed over 20 bills but highlights four key proposals. These measures include House Bill 167 (HB 167), which would prohibit diversity, equity, and inclusion offices and officers in all state and local units of government. Another proposal, HB 312, aims to bar non-U.S. citizens from serving in elected or appointed public roles.

Tepper's additional proposed legislation includes HB 1259, which seeks to create the State Agency Rules Review Commission. Furthermore, HB 1308 would require all state and local governmental entities to participate in the E-Verify program to ensure that only individuals lawfully present in the U.S. can work in Texas.

Tepper said in the release that he will "continue to introduce common-sense, conservative legislation and will be sharing more priorities as the new year approaches." The upcoming 89th legislative session is scheduled to begin on January 14, 2025, and run through June 2, 2025.
