Texas Senate advances majority of top priority bills

Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick announced that the Texas Senate has passed over half of its top 40 priority bills at the midpoint of the 89th regular legislative session. "At the beginning of the session in January, I laid out the most conservative and bold agenda in Texas Senate history," said Patrick. He noted that just one week after the bill filing deadline, 21 priority bills had already been passed.

Patrick attributed this progress to the senators' efforts, stating, "They are working at lightspeed to deliver for the people of Texas." He expressed anticipation for prompt action from Speaker Burrows and the Texas House to ensure these reforms become law.

The list of passed bills includes Senate Bill 2 on school choice, Senate Bill 3 banning THC in Texas, and Senate Bill 4 increasing homestead exemptions. Other notable legislation includes measures on electric grid reliability, bail reform, housing affordability, and teacher pay increases.
