The City of Lyford recently marked the groundbreaking of the Lyford Resiliency Center, a project funded by a $5 million grant from the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs' (TDHCA) Community Resiliency Program. This new facility aims to provide residents with health and wellness classes and will also serve as a central command post during future emergency events.
The funding for this initiative comes from the Community Development Block Grant CARES Act. The program is designed to help low- and moderate-income areas, as well as rural and small metro communities, to address gaps in their ability to prepare for, prevent, and respond to future pandemics.
TDHCA reminds the public that its Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waitlist is currently closed. They advise against providing personal information to any websites or social media pages claiming otherwise.
In observance of Veterans Day, TDHCA offices will be closed on Monday, November 11. Normal office hours will resume on Tuesday, November 12 at 8 a.m.
Additionally, TDHCA's website has transitioned to a Texas.gov domain. Users are encouraged to update their bookmarks to reflect the new Tdhca.Texas.gov site URLs.
