The Texas Farm Bureau (TFB) has announced the three finalists for the 2024 TFB Excellence in Agriculture (EIA) contest. The finalists are Jacob and Laura Henson from Lingleville, Madalynn Kainer from Brenham, and Jacob Spivey from Warren.
According to an October 28 press release issued by TFB, the EIA award is presented to young individuals aged 18 to 35 who are involved in agriculture but do not earn their primary income from a farm or ranch enterprise.
The Hensons started a construction company last year and are part owners of a commercial cattle herd. They also help operate Laura's family’s farm, white-tailed deer ranch, and silage harvesting business. They attend TFB events throughout the year.
Kainer serves as the assistant manager for the Washington County Fair. Her involvement with TFB includes participation in numerous young farmer and rancher events and activities, as well as holding a seat on the TFB Young Farmer & Rancher Advisory Committee.
Spivey teaches agricultural science and serves as the Future Farmers of America advisor at Warren High School. He is active in Farm Bureau activities at the county, state, and national levels.
The release said that the contest winner will be announced at the TFB Annual Meeting in Round Rock from December 6-8.
