Texas sees continuous job growth for tenth straight month

The State of Texas continues to record a high number of jobs, adding 41,800 last month. This marks the tenth consecutive month of job growth for the Lone Star State, bringing its seasonally adjusted total nonfarm employment to 14,195,600.

In a June 21 press release issued by the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC), the agency stated that the number of employed Texans and the state’s civilian labor force have also reached new highs in the previous five months.

According to the release, the state’s annual nonfarm employment grew by 2.3%, outpacing the country by half a point.

TWC Chairman Bryan Daniel said in the release that Texas has led the nation in year-over-year growth since May 2023.

Daniel added that his agency assists both job seekers and employers in their efforts to grow the Texas workforce.

The release noted that the trade, transportation, and utilities sector saw the largest over-the-month increase, with 13,300 jobs added. The leisure and hospitality and construction sectors added a combined 12,000 jobs.

According to TWC, it works with the U.S. Department of Labor’s Bureau of Labor Statistics to produce employment estimates.

The Texas Labor Market Information Data for June is slated to be released next month.
