The Texas State Library and Archives Commission (TSLAC) has announced that it will hold its annual June meeting in Brenham on Friday, June 7, 2024, beginning at 8:30 a.m. The Commission supports libraries, educational activities, and information services throughout the state, provides access to statewide e-resources, and awards funds every year to libraries undertaking innovative projects.

“We are thrilled to hold one of the Commission’s meetings in Brenham, which has such a robust library that offers the community wonderful programming for all ages,” said TSLAC Director and Librarian Gloria Meraz.

TSLAC Commissioner Bradley Tegeler, of Brenham, noted, “The Nancy Carol Roberts Memorial Library is an impressive facility and offers space, technology and resources for everyone in our community.”

The meeting is open to the public. The seven members of the Commission are appointed by the Governor, who also designates a chair, and are confirmed by the Texas Senate, serving staggered six-year terms. Commissioners are responsible for reviewing and approving the agency’s major policies, strategic plans, budgets and appropriations requests, contracts, internal audits, library grants and records management rules and for overseeing the preservation of and access to the Texas State Archives.
