Texas State Representative Ben Bumgarner (R-House District 63) has extended an invitation to students in Denton County to apply for the Texas Armed Services Scholarship Program (TASSP). The program offers eligible students the opportunity to receive up to $15,000 for the 2024-2025 academic year.
According to a press release issued by Bumgarner, TASSP is available to all qualifying high school graduates and college students residing in House District 63 who intend to enroll in a Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC) program at any public or private college or university within Texas.
The press release further elaborates on the eligibility criteria for TASSP. Students must meet at least two out of four specified criteria. Additionally, they should have earned a high school grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale. Another criterion is having achieved a college readiness score of 1070 on the SAT or 23 on the ACT. Lastly, applicants should be ranked within the top one-third of their high school graduating class.
To apply for TASSP, according to Bumgarner's press release, students are required to submit a cover letter and resume via email at Ben.Bumgarner@house.texas.gov.
