Texas Department Of Agriculture said Commissioner Miller chose four representatives for the Texas Food System and Resiliency Council, on Nov 14th. The council will be responsible for maintaining food security and agricultural resilience in the state.
The roles of these selected representatives are paramount to future food security. According to Morning AgClips, the goal of the representative's work is to ensure bountiful food for future generations. Mainly, to ensure the cost and safe production of agriculture. Namely, if possible droughts, disasters or any severe condition takes form, it is the council's responsibility to keep it in check. As Commissioner Miller put it himself, "Food security is national security."
Commissioner Sid Miller has a long-standing history in agriculture, demonstrating his commitment to securing its future. According to NASDA, Sid Miller has been serving since 2015 as the Texas Commissioner of Agriculture. His primary work is to protect and ensure the future of agriculture production in Texas. He is focused on promoting Texas-born products and items. Receiving his Bachelor of Science in vocational agriculture education, it's evident he cares for the future of Texas, specifically in agriculture.
Beyond safeguarding production and costs, the council also involves legislative efforts geared towards broader public health objectives. According to Texas Legislature, the Texas Food Security System and Resiliency Planning Council do much more than keeping resiliency in food production and protection. Possible actions may include legislative recommendations to keep the distribution and attainability of food in the state, and ensure food is an understandable cost for public health and safety.
