Texas Department of Public Safety is analyzing the readiness of schools and gatherings, in the form of practiced terrorist exercises.

According to a press release from the town of Prosper, they were among the locations where these drills took place. These exercises involved collective agencies such as the FBI and Complex Coordinated Terrorist Attack (CCTA), among others. The drills primarily aimed at improving community responses to real-world situations that are uncommon in daily life. "Exercises like this allow our department the opportunity to engage in realistic training and practice in case we are ever faced with real-life events like this in North Texas," said Police Chief Doug Kowalski.

Homeland Security Today reported that planning these exercises took over a year. Apart from enhancing citizen preparedness, these mock attacks served to strengthen inter-agency cooperation. Texas DPS Director Steven McShaw noted, "I have no doubt we are better prepared today than we were a few days ago because this training took place."

According to My Paris Texas News, approximately 1,000 people across six different locations participated in these drills - including El Paso, San Antonio, and Prosper. Each drill was unique based on who was involved and their respective capacities. These were designed not just to boost medical experience or injury response, but also improve communication.
