The Texas Military Department is continuing its work on the border, protecting it and redirecting immigrants attempting to cross the Rio Grande to official ports of entry. The department's soldiers instruct illegal immigrants to turn back and use the proper channels to enter the United States.
In a statement, the Texas Military Department said, "Illegal immigrants who cross the Rio Grande River are met by Texas National Guard Soldiers who instruct them to turn back and use the official ports of entry."
The department recently shared a glimpse into their work and the state of the border. As part of Operation Lone Star, the Texas Military Department patrols the Mexico-Texas border daily, actively searching for and deterring illegal immigrants from crossing into the United States. To aid in their efforts, engineers have installed miles of concertina-wire fencing.

While it is not possible for immigrants from Mexico to cross the border anywhere, there are official ports of entry where they can enter legally. The United States government has established procedures that must be followed at these ports. The U.S. Customs and Border Protection website provides information on all ports of entry in Texas, as well as locations of ports throughout the country and along its borders.
With the need for increased support on the border, Operation Lone Star is actively seeking volunteers to assist in maintaining order and ensuring proper processes are followed. These volunteer positions are full-time and include lodging. Volunteers also receive a daily allowance of $55 for food and other necessary items. However, all volunteers must already be members of the Texas Military Department and be physically fit for deployment if required.
The Texas Military Department's ongoing efforts on the border are crucial in safeguarding the integrity of the border and enforcing immigration laws.
