The Department of Savings and Mortgage Lending, under the Finance Commission of Texas, announced they will be hosting their 11th annual Mortgage Industry Seminar on November 6th in Southlake, Texas.

The Department of Savings and Mortgage Lending is a branch within the Finance Commission of Texas that works specifically to monitor the thrift industry and regulate the mortgage industry of Texas. By managing these two main areas, the Department is responsible for the majority of all residential mortgage lending for Texas. In reports from 2022, the Department has worked on over 55,000 Residential Mortgage Loan Originators and over 3,726 Mortgage Related Entities in Texas alone. With a combined total exceeding $411.9 billion dollars, the Savings and Mortgage Department has worked to advise and manage several State Chartered Savings banks.

The Mortgage Industry Seminar this year will be focusing on providing education on how to understand and work through mortgages for the upcoming season. Gathering together hundreds of mortgage professionals, the Seminar will give these people the chance to network as well as help to educate them on how best to navigate the intricacies and details of mortgage and lending.

This year's Seminar will open with a speech by the Finance Commissioner, Mr. Hector Retta. Following his introduction, the next two hours will be filled with experts speaking on a variety of topics including explaining the State Examination System by the Chief Mortgage Examiner, Ellena Meier. Other topics covered in the Seminar will be Enforcement Actions and Complaints, Licensing Update and Issues, and Secondary Mortgage Loans. Concluding the event will be an open forum where individuals will be able to discuss any residual concerns, comments, or concerns they have gathered from the previous speakers.

This year's Seminar is being held on November 6th from 1:30pm to 3:30pm CST at the Western Dallas Southlake Hotel in Southlake Texas. Registration is free and can be completed on the Department of Savings and Mortgage Lending's website.
