Sen. Cruz Sits Down With At&T CEO And Senior Executives In Dallas

DALLAS, Texas – Today, U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), the Ranking Member of the Senate Commerce Committee, sat down with AT&T CEO John Stankey and senior executives at AT&T’s headquarters in Dallas to discuss FCC nominations, spectrum, taxes, and other issues faced by the company.

About the visit, Sen. Cruz said:

Sen. Cruz has been a consistent advocate for fair telecommunications practices and champion of free enterprise to foster prosperity for businesses in this field, both Texas-based and beyond.

•    Serving as Ranking Member of the Senate Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee, Sen. Cruz successfully advocated against Senate confirmation of Biden administration nominee Gigi Sohn, who would have radicalized the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).

o    Sen. Cruz has a history of advocating for qualified candidates who champion free enterprise.

•    Sen. Cruz has conducted rigorous FCC and NTIA oversight and continues to work to reduce inefficiency in federal programs and administrative overreach.

•    Sen. Cruz has been working to restore the FCC’s spectrum auction authority and expand commercial access to spectrum.

•    Sen. Cruz supported and advocated for Texas to be considered for key semiconductor production sites, citing the “vibrant and long-standing telecommunications history” in a letter sent to Secretary of the Department of Commerce Gina Raimondo.

•    Sen. Cruz has introduced legislation to protect national security interests by ensuring telecommunications is not used as a vehicle by foreign adversaries to conduct espionage.
