Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) announced the Music Friendly Texas Community workshop will be held at 4 p.m. on Thursday, according to an April 20 press release from the governor's office. The Texas Music Office (TMO) and the City of Clear Lake Shores will co-host the event.

“Music is key to the Texas brand and to our local economies,” Abbott said. “I thank the Texas Music Office for helping communities large and small develop creative partnerships and grow new jobs. Working alongside local leaders like those in Clear Lake Shores, we can ensure Texas communities have the tools needed to succeed."

TMO Community Relations and Outreach Specialist Chip Adams will make a virtual appearance to explain the Music Friendly Texas Community designation and the benefits of certification, as well as to answer any questions from attendees.

Musicians, venues and general attendees are invited to participate in person or virtually. More information can be found on the event's official Facebook page.

The Music Friendly Texas program, which was launched by TMO in 2016, has been a critical factor in state communities seeking to develop music industry growth. Program participation provides certified communities with a network to foster industry development and signifies to industry professionals that said communities are invested in attracting and developing music industry growth.

Once completed, Clear Lake Shores's workshop will have been the first step in its certification process, which has already been completed by 42 other Texas cities, which are as follows: Fort Worth, Austin, San Antonio, Dallas, Houston, Denton, Lindale, Stephenville, Conroe, San Angelo, Nacogdoches, Abilene, McKinney, Waxahachie, Waco, Alpine, Bastrop, New Braunfels, Victoria, Arlington, Denison, Lubbock, Brenham, Dripping Springs, Round Rock, El Paso, Odessa, Vidor, Grand Prairie, Port Aransas, San Marcos, McAllen, Bryan, Wimberley, Salado, Harker Heights, Edinburg, Selma, Marshall, Granbury, Corsicana and Frisco.
