Conservative Republican candidate for governor Don Huffines signed the U.S. Term Limits pledge in support of term limits and reiterated his commitment to the policy for every elected office in Texas.
Plank 76 of the Texas GOP platform reads as follows:
“Term Limits: We support term limits of twelve years for federal and state offices.”
Huffines issued the following statement:
“The first bills I filed during my time in the Texas Senate were proposals to limit the terms of the governor, statewide officials, and members of the Texas Legislature. Term limits are citizens’ best defense against career politicians and the Austin Swamp. When I am Governor of Texas, I will prioritize the passage of legislation to limit the terms of every elected office in the state.”
