Rep. Beth Van Duyne (Texas-24) appeals to her colleagues in a formal letter to join her in sending a clear message to Big Tech, “If you’re going to censor conservative’s voices, we don’t want your money.”
Van Duyne, who, according to Fox News, did not receive any campaign contributions from the companies during her election cycle, insisted in her letter, “We need to put our money where our mouth is.”
The congresswoman pledges “to refuse any and all campaign contributions from Google, Apple, Facebook, Twitter, and Amazon,” to send a strong message to the social media giants in the wake of the censorship for conservatives,
YouTube and Snapchat have recently joined the bandwagon in banning President Donald Trump.
“The permanent suspension of the President of the United States due to the ‘risk of further incitement of violence’ has revealed a stunning double standard,” Van Duyne stated in her letter to her colleagues.
"This stunning double standard makes clear Twitter is not looking out for their users’ safety — they are wielding their dangerously influential market power to actively censor voices their top brass disagrees with.
"Big Tech is increasingly wielding their power and market dominance to silence conservative voices, and we need to put an end to it," Van Duyne wrote and asked her colleagues to return any contributions from them.
