The Texas Conference for Women and the Texas Restaurant Association will grant over $150,000 to restaurants owned by women.
"While these systemic inequities need to be addressed, as a community of women, we are committed to supporting other women – and hope this will provide some relief," The Texas Conference for Women Board President Carla Piñeyro Sublett said.
The Texas Conference for Women, which is a member of the nation’s largest network of women’s conferences, will donate the funds to the Texas Restaurant Relief Fund. The program says up to 60 women-owned businesses will receive $2,500 each. The businesses will be selected through an application process overseen by the Texas Restaurant Association.
“We are thrilled at the partnership between TRA and the Texas Conference for Women,” Emily Williams Knight, president and CEO of TRA said. “Working women in this industry need particular support right now. Our conversation on Sunday will focus on how companies can create inclusive environments where women can thrive.”
Interested restaurant owners can apply online. Grant winners will be announced in September.
