The Freedom in the 806 Coalition Against Trafficking is in need of volunteers, KVII reported.
The organization's volunteers work to educate the community on human trafficking and do not directly work with human trafficking victims, the news agency reported. They are needing between 40 and 50 volunteers.
“We see sex and labor trafficking cases,” Ashley Jourdan, a human trafficking outreach coordinator who also oversees the coalition told the news agency. “Here in Amarillo, we see minor and adult victims and we also see male and female victims. So, it definitely happens here. It happens often we see victims of trafficking every day.”
Jourdan told the news agency the more volunteers they have, the bigger events can be and the more awareness they are able to bring to communities across the state.
The Human Trafficking Institute released new numbers that found that Texas has the most active cases of human trafficking than any other state in the nation, according to the news agency.
