The Texas Public Policy Foundation (TPPF) has released a new video that scrutinizes school district spending in Texas. According to the video, titled "Suitable Provision: An Inside Look at Education Spending in Texas," billions of dollars meant for educational improvements are being diverted to administrators, lobbyists, consultants, and contractors. The funds are also used to manage the significant debt accumulated by schools.
The episode, referred to as "The Heist," highlights several instances of what it describes as reckless and wasteful spending. These include high superintendent salaries, inflated contracts, luxurious stadiums with Jumbotrons, and other extravagant expenditures such as water parks, golf courses, and planes.
"The Heist is a massive transfer of billions of dollars from taxpayers into a machine that maintains, grows and protects a system designed to ensure taxes always go up, the money always comes in, and there’s no accountability for how it’s spent,” states the video.

Despite this spending pattern, the video claims that educational outcomes remain stagnant or worsen. Mandy Drogin, TPPF Campaign Director, emphasizes the need for accountability within the system. “These are precious resources that are being wasted at the expense of Texas students,” she asserts.
