The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) has announced the approval of financial assistance amounting to $78,412,603 for various water, wastewater, and flood projects across the state. This funding aims to support essential infrastructure improvements in several Texas communities.
A breakdown of the financial allocations includes $3,753,441 to the City of Winters in Runnels County for enhancements to its water system. The City of Abilene, spanning Taylor and Jones counties, will receive $8,153,062 for a water system project. In Galveston County, the City of La Marque is set to obtain $9,985,000 for wastewater system improvements.
Significant funding of $45,350,700 has been designated for wastewater system upgrades in Marble Falls located in Burnet County. To address emerging contaminants issues, the City of Corpus Christi in Nueces County will receive $625,000 and the East Rio Hondo Water Supply Corporation in Cameron County will get $4,880,400.
Further allocations include $1,400,000 for a wastewater project in the City of Arp in Smith County and $4,265,000 for a water system project at Rayburn Country Municipal Utility District in Jasper County.
The TWDB is responsible for collecting and sharing water-related data while supporting regional planning efforts related to water and flood management. It also administers financial assistance programs designed to facilitate the construction of water supply systems, wastewater treatment facilities, flood mitigation strategies, and agricultural water conservation initiatives.
