On December 10, 2024, the Southeastern Legal Foundation (SLF) and Texas Public Policy Foundation (TPPF) released a mini-documentary to address the consequences of government overreach. The documentary highlights issues stemming from a rule proposed by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), which affects North Carolina boaters by limiting their speed to 10 knots in coastal waters.
The film emphasizes how these regulations impact livelihoods that have been sustained for generations. Braden Boucek, Vice President of Litigation at SLF, stated, “We are excited to bring this mini-documentary to the American people to highlight the impact of these kinds of rules. North Carolinian boaters are the lifeblood of the coast and great examples of the hard work the boating industry requires. We are glad to be able to give them the voice they deserve through this mini-documentary.”
Robert Henneke, General Counsel at TPPF, added, “We are glad to join SLF to give the people of North Carolina back their voice. Telling these personal stories is so important to understanding the need for preventing poorly made rules. We hope these stories are heard far and wide so everyone understands the true impact of unconstitutional agency overreach.”
The documentary aims to educate viewers on what SLF and TPPF consider detrimental effects caused by federal decisions in Washington.
