Governor Greg Abbott has announced the appointment of Rodney Anderson and the reappointment of Phil Johnson and Linda Kinney to the Judicial Compensation Commission. These appointments are set for terms ending on February 1, 2029. The Commission is tasked with recommending appropriate salaries for justices and judges in Texas's Supreme Court, Court of Criminal Appeals, Courts of Appeals, and state district courts.
Rodney Anderson from Grand Prairie holds the position of executive vice president and national agency manager at Alliant National Title Insurance Company. He previously represented Texas House Districts 105 and 106, serving on several committees including Insurance, Elections, International Trade & Intergovernmental Affairs, and Urban Affairs. His community involvement includes board membership at Baylor Scott and White Medical Center - Irving and Grand Prairie Family YMCA. He is also affiliated with the Grand Prairie Chamber of Commerce and has held leadership roles in the Texas Land Title Association and Rotary Club of Grand Prairie. Anderson holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from The University of Texas at Arlington.
Phil Johnson from Lubbock is an attorney who formerly served as a Justice on the Supreme Court of Texas. His previous judicial roles include Justice and Chief Justice positions on the Seventh Court of Appeals. Johnson is recognized as a life fellow by both the American Bar Foundation and the Texas Bar Foundation. He maintains memberships with various legal organizations such as the State Bar of Texas, American Law Institute, Texas Bar College, and the Texas Center for Legal Ethics. His volunteer work spans numerous organizations including Boy Scouts of America – Golden Spread Council, Kiwanis, Southwest Lighthouse for the Blind, Lubbock Area Foundation, and Lubbock County Legal Aid Society. Johnson earned his Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from Texas Tech University (TTU) along with a Juris Doctor from TTU School of Law.
Linda Kinney from Comfort brings over three decades of public service experience to her role on the Commission since beginning her service in 2019 after two terms with the Motor Vehicle Crime Prevention Authority.
