Texas REALTORS has announced the upcoming retirement of its President and CEO, Travis Kessler, effective March 31, 2025. Kessler has been with the organization since 2010. Succeeding him will be Mike Barnett, currently serving as Executive Vice President, who will assume the role on April 1, 2025.
During his tenure, Kessler expanded Texas REALTORS' membership from 75,000 to 155,000 and implemented various programs to enhance professionalism and support private property owners. Reflecting on his time at Texas REALTORS, Kessler stated: “It’s been an absolute privilege to have served in the leadership for Texas REALTORS for so many years, and I know the organization is in good hands.”
Mike Barnett brings a wealth of experience from his 18 years within Texas REALTORS. He has been involved in political affairs, strategic planning, and financial management. Kessler expressed confidence in Barnett's abilities: “Mike’s caring personality, coupled with his extensive industry credentials, embodies the core values of our organization.”
Kessler's career spans nearly five decades in real estate. He has also held executive positions at local REALTOR associations and was listed among the most influential people in real estate by Swanepoel Power 200 for nine consecutive years.
Jef Conn, Chairman of Texas REALTORS for 2024, praised Kessler's contributions: “Travis Kessler is an exemplary leader who has been a driving force in helping REALTORS and their clients across Texas achieve success.”
Barnett looks forward to continuing the association's work alongside its volunteer leaders. "I am deeply honored and humbled to step into the role of President and CEO of Texas REALTORS,” he said.
Kessler expressed optimism about Barnett’s future leadership: “Under his leadership, this exemplary organization will continue to set the standard for REALTOR associations nationwide."
Barnett has held his current position as Executive Vice President for 12 years. His previous roles include Director of Political Affairs at Texas REALTORS.
Barnett concluded with gratitude toward Kessler: “My deepest gratitude and respect go to Travis Kessler for his many years of dedicated service to the organization."
