Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller and the Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) have issued a call for vigilance against unlicensed pesticide businesses in Texas communities. These operations, according to the TDA, violate legal standards and may pose significant risks to public health and safety. The department urges residents to ensure that pest control services they employ are properly licensed.
“No Texas family, child, or beloved pet is going to be put at risk by improper pesticide use on my watch,” stated Commissioner Sid Miller. He emphasized the potential dangers associated with untrained handling of chemicals, urging Texans to report any illegal pesticide applicators. “Together, we can protect our homes, families, and communities from these dangerous practices.”
The TDA serves as the primary authority in Texas for regulating pesticides. Their responsibilities include investigating complaints of alleged pesticide misuse and ensuring adherence to the Texas Pesticide Law and related regulations.
