Senator Paul Bettencourt of Houston has pre-filed a series of bills known as the "Integrity 7" in anticipation of the upcoming 89th Legislative Session, which is set to commence on January 14, 2025. These legislative proposals focus on enhancing election transparency and ensuring the integrity of voter rolls in Texas. They also propose penalties for non-compliance.
The "Integrity 7" consists of six bills that were previously passed by the Senate during the 88th legislative session, each with up to seven joint authors. The package aims to address concerns related to election integrity and public trust in electoral processes.
Senator Bettencourt expressed his appreciation for the support from fellow senators: “I’m proud that Senators Creighton, Huffman, Kolkhorst, Middleton, Paxton, Perry, and Parker have jointly authored different bills in this ‘Integrity 7’ package." He emphasized his commitment to election integrity since taking office and hopes these measures will enhance transparency and trust in Texas elections. “Paramount of all of this is a voter roll with integrity and election procedures and results that the public can trust,” he added.
