AUSTIN – The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) has approved financial assistance amounting to $2,500,000 for the Brazosport Water Supply Corporation in Brazoria County. This funding, sourced from the Texas Water Development Fund, is designated for the planning phase of a reservoir expansion project.

The Brazosport Water Supply Corporation could potentially save approximately $111,000 over the life of the loan by utilizing this financial assistance program. The allocated funds will facilitate pre-construction planning for the Harris Expansion Project. This initiative aims to increase water storage capacity through the construction of an off-channel reservoir and associated infrastructure immediately north of the existing Harris Reservoir site in Brazoria County.

The TWDB is responsible for collecting and disseminating water-related data, aiding regional water and flood planning efforts, and preparing state-level water and flood plans. Additionally, it administers cost-effective financial assistance programs aimed at constructing water supply systems, wastewater treatment facilities, flood mitigation projects, and agricultural water conservation initiatives.
