Travis County GOP Chairman Matt Mackowiak released his election integrity plan, should he be successful in his campaign for Chairman of the Texas Republican Party.
Mackowiak announced his campaign for the state GOP’s chair position on May 17. Current Chair is Matt Rinaldi, who endorsed Abraham George as his potential replacement.
Mackowiak released his election integrity plan on May 21 as part of his campaign. The plan, to be instituted in his first sixty days as chair, begins with raising one million dollars to support the election reform actions.
“We should make it easy to legally vote, and impossible to illegally vote, and Texas has existing state laws to do that,” Mackowiak said in the release. “It is the job of the Republican Party of Texas to protect our general election candidates by ensuring state laws are followed and actively litigating to protect our rights and election integrity. No other RPT chair candidate has released a detailed, comprehensive, actionable election integrity plan. This will be an urgent priority when I am elected chair.”
The plan includes creating a leadership team who can write and advocate for election law policies, recruiting and training volunteer election lawyers, working to pass legislation in the state to restrict voting to American citizens only, and recruiting volunteers to work as poll workers, poll watchers, and election judges.
Mackowiak founded Potomac Strategy Group, a political and corporate consulting firm, in 2009, and also co-founded Save Austin Now. He is currently serving as the chairman of the Travis County Republican Party.
A native from Austin, Mackowiak graduated from the University of Texas.
