Good Evening,
I began last weekend out in Perryton, Texas, joining the community in the aftermath of the tornado there, participating in a brief with local and state officials, speaking with Perryton residents, and helping clean up. Read more here.
On Fox News Tonight with Kaleigh McEnany I spoke about Hunter Biden’s sweetheart deal with the Department of Justice. If Hunter had the last name “Smith” or any other last name, he would have been met with the full force of the law and all of his alleged crimes would have been investigated rather than a fraction of his most minor offenses. As I stated this week, “every American who cares about justice ought to be outraged. What happened today is three things at once. Number one, it is cronyism. Number two, it is camouflage. And, number three, it is corruption.”
The Hunter Biden story is a cover-up by US Attorney General, Merrick Garland, who is solely using this prosecution to feign impartiality.
Wednesday, I participated in a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing to talk about protecting the integrity of women’s sports, and joined Carl Higbie Frontline on Newsmax to recount the insanity.
This week, I reintroduced Kate’s Law, bicameral legislation to amend federal law to impose a mandatory minimum sentence of five years for any person who has multiple convictions, or a conviction for an aggravated felony, who enters the country illegally. Kate’s Law is named in memory of Kate Steinle, a 32-year-old woman tragically shot and killed by an illegal alien who had several felony convictions and had been deported from the United States five times.
I also introduced the CDC Accountability Act to move up the date by which the position of Director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) becomes a Senate-approved position. Currently, the CDC Director is directly appointed by the president without Senate confirmation, but the position is scheduled to become a Senate-confirmed position starting in January 2025. My legislation would make this position Senate confirmable immediately upon enactment of the bill, allowing Senators the opportunity to properly vet and examine the next CDC Director.
Rest assured, I will always fight for the interests of Texans, by working to secure our border, holding government agencies accountable, and showing up for my constituents in times of need. God bless you all and God bless the great State of Texas!
Keep Texas Strong,
