A delegation from Brazosport College recently attended Brazoria County Day in Austin and celebrated the 50-year anniversary of the event’s introduction at the state capitol.
Among the day’s highlights were two performances by the Brazosport College BC Jazz Band and Jazz Singers. Led by BC Director of Music Richard Birk, the music group began the day with a short performance in the capitol rotunda, followed by a longer show at the evening’s shrimp cocktail networking event.
Also representing the college were Brazosport College President Dr. Vincent Solis and Board of Regent members Roland Hendricks, Jason Cordoba and Steven Solis.
Brazoria County Day is held every other year in Austin when legislature is in session. The event is open to Brazoria County residents and provides an opportunity to stand together and thank elected officials, while also voice legislative thoughts and concerns. During the session, Brazoria County is also formally recognized in the House and the Senate.
