Those looking for a new drink to enjoy can treat themselves to EIGHT Elite Light Lager, a new beer launched by Hall of Fame quarterback and NFL on FOX color commentator Troy Aikman, who led the Dallas Cowboys to three Super Bowl titles in the 1990s.

Aikman said in a recent release that taking the time to reflect and celebrate is critical when an individual is constantly pushing themselves in pursuit of their goals, hoping EIGHT helps people to connect with one another.

“EIGHT is for the drinker who consistently puts in the hard work," Aikman said in the release. "These folks, myself included, are conscious of what we put in our bodies, and options for a light, refreshing beer that’s brewed with organic ingredients are virtually nonexistent."

The 55-year-old Aikman has made the libation available at bars and restaurants in Texas, the release states. The beverage contains organic grains, as well as 90 calories and 2.6g carbohydrates per 12-ounce serving.

“Being ‘healthy’ is a balance between physical, mental and emotional wellbeing," Aikman said. "I use physical exercise to reduce my stress and support longevity, and practice good nutrition and clean eating to maintain my lifestyle. When it comes to grabbing a beer though, I found that my options were limited."

According to the release, EIGHT will be sold in stores across the Lone Star State beginning next month. This comes as Aikman partnered with Oregon State University’s distinguished Food Science and Technology Department to conduct a research and trial process that took two years.

“I know how incredibly competitive the beer industry is, but if EIGHT offers drinkers an option that they’re proud to enjoy, that will be a huge win,” Aikman added.

To celebrate the beer’s debut, KVUE reports Aikman served as a guest bartender at Austin's The Domain alongside EIGHT co-founders Doug Campbell, Ruchi Desai and Jake Duneier.
