Abilene Chamber of Commerce issued the following announcement on April 9

The Abilene Chamber of Commerce is requesting the community to voice their support to Congress in aiding 501©(6) organizations in the next phase of legislation for COVID-19 or Coronavirus relief efforts.

“Congress has done a very good job of helping both individuals and businesses through the COVID-19 crisis. Financial grants, loans, and the easing of many rules and procedures will help reverse the downturn. We sincerely thank our elected officials for these important programs,” said Doug Peters, President & CEO of the Abilene Chamber of Commerce. “However, those aid programs are for businesses and 501(c)(3) nonprofits leaving out a very important group of the legislation – 501(c)(6) organizations.”

The community can voice their support by clicking here and filling out the form.

“Our organization is working harder than ever, and is needed more than ever, to support the countless businesses and nonprofit organizations in our community whose financial struggles – caused by the COVID-19 crisis – threatens their very existence,” said Peters.
