Governor Greg Abbott has reinforced the support for school choice in Texas during a media event at the Texas Capitol in Austin. He was joined by former Arizona Governor Doug Ducey, Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick, and Speaker Dustin Burrows.

"School choice is important for parents and essential for students," said Governor Abbott. "Texas is on the cusp of game-changing legislation. No one knows better than a parent about the power and importance of school choice for children. We must prioritize our students. As Governor, we will ensure Texas ranks No. 1 for educating our students. That starts by passing school choice this session.”

Governor Ducey emphasized that school choice transcends political lines: "This is not a partisan issue, this is an American issue," he stated. He expressed full support for Texas's efforts towards universal school choice, highlighting its potential impact nationwide.

Lieutenant Governor Patrick remarked on Texas's educational funding levels while advocating for parental choice: "Texas is funding education at one of the highest levels ever,” he said. “But every parent deserves a choice. Anyone who says that school choice is undermining education, that is simply a total lie."

Speaker Burrows spoke about legislative efforts to balance public education funding with school choice initiatives: "We can fully fund public education and do school choice at the same time," he noted, referring to House Bill 2 and House Bill 3.

Governor Abbott highlighted the potential benefits of a school choice program in maintaining Texas's competitiveness in industries such as artificial intelligence, semiconductors, and aerospace. He also acknowledged the leadership of Ducey, Patrick, and Burrows in promoting parental empowerment through school choice.
