Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller marked National Ag Day by visiting J. Foster Farms in Collin County, Texas, accompanied by U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Regional Administrator Scott Mason and the Texas Farm Bureau. The event was aimed at highlighting the efforts and resilience of farmers and ranchers in Texas.

“There is no better place to celebrate National Ag Day than right here at one of the last remaining farms in Collin County,” stated Commissioner Miller. He added, “Agriculture isn’t just our past—it’s our future, and events like this remind us why it’s worth fighting for. I’m proud to be joined by the Environmental Protection Agency and the Texas Farm Bureau to recognize the dedication of our farmers and ranchers. Texas agriculture matters, and we’re committed to ensuring it thrives for generations to come.”

National Ag Day is a tribute to producers who provide food, clothing, and fuel across America. In Texas, agriculture is seen as more than an industry; it is considered a way of life that supports the nation. Farmers face numerous challenges while working tirelessly from dawn until dusk to meet the needs of a growing population.

Scott Mason of the EPA commented on regional agricultural efforts: “From wheat farms in Oklahoma to rice fields in Arkansas and Louisiana to cattle ranches in New Mexico, the agriculture community across EPA Region 6 provides food, fiber, and fuel while stewarding and conserving the land.” He expressed enthusiasm for enhancing partnerships with agriculture sectors that aim to balance economic growth with environmental protection.

Jay Bragg from the Texas Farm Bureau emphasized agriculture's significance: “National Agriculture Day is a day to celebrate and promote agriculture's role in modern society.” He noted that their organization was pleased to join EPA representatives at a family farm in Collin County for discussions on overcoming agricultural challenges within rapidly developing areas.
