Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller has called on Texans to participate in National Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) Week, taking place from March 16 to 22. This annual event highlights the efforts of sponsors working with the Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) to deliver healthy meals and snacks at approximately 12,500 locations throughout Texas. These services are available at adult daycare centers, childcare centers, home-based daycares, and afterschool programs for eligible Texans.
“With National CACFP Week, we honor the hard-working Texas sponsors serving nutritious meals that support healthy habits for Texans of all ages,” said Commissioner Miller. “These sponsors served more than 200 million meals and snacks last year while working to include nutritional education for participants. CACFP helps ensure more Texans have the nutrition they need for an active and healthy life.”
The TDA supports this initiative by offering resources accessible through SquareMeals.org/CACFPWeek. The site provides curated menus with recipes featuring fruits and vegetables for nutrition teams. Additionally, activity sheets are available to help participants learn about good nutrition and healthy lifestyles. Promotional materials such as posters and web banners are also provided to assist sponsors in raising awareness about CACFP among Texas families.
