Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller has issued a call for Texans to prepare as wildfire and storm risks escalate across the state. With conditions including dry weather, high winds, and rising temperatures, Texas is experiencing an increased threat of wildfires. Concurrently, severe storm warnings have been announced for North and East Texas, with potential risks such as damaging winds, hail, and possible tornadoes.
“We don’t want a repeat of last year’s fires, where we saw entire ranches, homes, and livelihoods go up in smoke,” stated Commissioner Miller. He emphasized the importance of readiness: “Preparedness can mean the difference between safety and tragedy.”
The Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) is coordinating with state agencies and local officials to support wildfire response efforts. Assistance will be provided where necessary.
“Texans are tough, and we look out for each other,” added Miller. “Now’s the time to take action to protect your family, livestock, and property. Let’s not wait until it’s too late.”
