Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller recently joined Vice President JD Vance on a visit to the Texas-Mexico border in Eagle Pass. The trip also included Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, marking a significant visit by high-ranking members of President Trump's administration.

Miller emphasized the administration's commitment to border security, stating, "This visit reinforces the White House’s new 'whole of government' approach to securing our nation." He criticized previous policies under the Biden Administration for allowing increased illegal crossings that he claims endangered communities and agricultural sectors.

Highlighting changes under the current administration, Miller noted a decrease in migrant encounters at the border. "A year ago, we saw an average of 4,800 migrant encounters daily. Now, that number has reportedly dropped to less than 300," he said. Specific areas like Eagle Pass and Del Rio have seen reduced crossings, with fewer than 50 incidents daily.

Miller stressed the impact on local agriculture: "Texas farmers and ranchers...have carried the burden of an unsecured border for too long." He called for continued efforts to secure the border as essential for protecting Texas communities and American agriculture.

The communication was directed by Maddison Jaureguito.
