Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller has announced that schools across Texas will observe National School Breakfast Week from March 3-7, adopting the theme "Clue In To School Breakfast." The initiative is part of a collaboration between school nutrition teams and the Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) to provide approximately 1.6 million breakfasts daily through the National School Breakfast Program. Promotional materials have been developed by TDA in conjunction with the School Nutrition Association to support this celebration.
Commissioner Miller emphasized the significance of a healthy breakfast, stating, “Eating a healthy breakfast at school can have a big impact on children’s attendance, test scores, and overall academic success.” He encouraged students to appreciate their nutrition teams by participating in school breakfast during National School Breakfast Week.
This year, TDA has expanded its resources by making them available online. Schools can access a Do-It-Yourself Celebration Guide and other materials at SquareMeals.org/SBW. These resources include an activity kit, marketing toolkit, and coloring sheets designed around the theme "Clue In to School Breakfast," which engages students with a mystery-inspired focus on nutritious foods.
