Governor Greg Abbott has announced a collaborative effort between the Texas Music Office (TMO) and the City of Fate to host a Music Friendly Texas Community workshop. The event, scheduled for February 24, will be available both in-person and virtually.
"Music is key to the Texas brand and to our local economies," Governor Abbott stated. He acknowledged the TMO's role in helping communities develop partnerships and create jobs, noting that "the Texas music industry accounts for 196,000 direct and indirect permanent jobs and generates over $31.7 billion in annual economic activity statewide."
Gini Mascorro, TMO Community Relations and Outreach Specialist, will attend the workshop to discuss the benefits of obtaining the Music Friendly Texas Community designation. She will also address any questions from participants.
The program aims to foster music industry development across Texas by providing certified communities with a supportive network. The workshop in Fate marks the initial step towards certification. Upon completion, Fate would join over 70 other cities with this designation.
Musicians, venues, and members of the public are invited to participate either on-site or online.
