Governor Greg Abbott has recognized the City of Port Aransas for achieving the status of a Tourism Friendly Texas Certified Community. This designation, awarded by Travel Texas in the program's inaugural year, acknowledges Port Aransas' commitment to enhancing tourism as an economic strategy, creating jobs, and attracting visitors locally and globally.
"Tourism is critical to both our local and state economies, supporting one in 11 jobs across Texas," stated Governor Abbott. "Travelers to and within Texas generate more than $193.8 billion in annual economic impact and support 1.3 million jobs across the state." He encouraged other communities to seek this certification to bolster local tourism.
Travel Texas Director Tim Fennell highlighted Port Aransas' appeal: "Port Aransas captures the essence of Texas’ Gulf Coast, where miles of sandy beaches, world-class fishing, and a laid-back island atmosphere draw visitors year after year."
Representative Todd Hunter expressed pride in Port Aransas' recognition: "This achievement underscores our community's commitment to showcasing the natural beauty and warm hospitality of Texas' Gulf Coast."
Mayor Wendy Moore acknowledged the collective effort behind this accolade: "This designation is a testament to the unwavering dedication of our residents, businesses, and partners who work tirelessly to make Port Aransas a welcoming and memorable destination."
Brett Stawar from the Port Aransas Tourism Bureau & Chamber of Commerce also celebrated this accomplishment: "The collective work we do on a daily basis makes Port Aransas the destination that it is."
