The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) has successfully apprehended two individuals from the state's 10 Most Wanted Criminal Illegal Immigrants List. Jorge Dionicio Hernandez and Omar David Zavala were taken into custody on January 24, 2025, in Houston and Mesquite, respectively. A Crime Stoppers reward will be issued for information leading to Hernandez's arrest.

Jorge Dionicio Hernandez, a 33-year-old Mexican national, was arrested in Houston by DPS Special Agents, U.S. Homeland Security Investigations, and the Harris County Sheriff's Office. He had been wanted since January 2022 for indecency with a child by sexual contact. In 2009, Hernandez faced multiple convictions for driving while intoxicated in Harris County and was deported from the United States. In July 2021, he was detained by the Houston Police Department for providing false identification but later released on bond.

Omar David Zavala, a 30-year-old from El Salvador, was captured in Mesquite through coordinated efforts involving DPS Special Agents at the Texas Anti-Gang center in Houston and other law enforcement agencies. He had been sought since 2022 for charges including sexual assault and terroristic threats. Zavala was previously arrested multiple times by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement in 2014 and deported in 2015. In May 2020, he was arrested again by the Houston Police Department.

Texas Crime Stoppers offers cash rewards funded by the Governor’s Public Safety Office for information leading to arrests of fugitives on the Texas Most Wanted lists. In 2024 alone, authorities captured 46 individuals from these lists with $32,000 awarded for tips that resulted in arrests.

Anonymous tips can be submitted through various methods to qualify for rewards without revealing personal identities.

DPS collaborates with local and federal agencies to capture criminal illegal immigrants identified on the most wanted list.
