Texas group keeps Corporate Transparency Act on hold despite Supreme Court order

Despite a Supreme Court order, the Corporate Transparency Act (CTA) remains stayed nationwide. This outcome is due to the efforts of the Texas Public Policy Foundation (TPPF), which earlier this month secured a stay in the Eastern District of Texas.

The CTA, included in the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2021, requires small businesses to comply with extensive reporting mandates. TPPF contends that the Act oversteps Congress's authority under the Commerce Clause. According to the judge who issued the stay, TPPF’s legal challenge presents distinct facts and arguments compared to those considered by the Supreme Court, thus remaining unaffected by its decision.

TPPF is currently awaiting further actions from the Department of Justice and intends to continue advocating for individual rights and freedoms across America.
