Governor Greg Abbott has announced that The Colony has been recognized as a Music Friendly Texas Certified Community by the Texas Music Office (TMO). This designation is part of a program initiated by TMO in 2016 to promote economic development and job creation within the music industry across Texas.

Governor Abbott remarked, "Congratulations to the City of The Colony on earning the Music Friendly Texas Certified Community designation. Music is key to the Texas brand and is deeply rooted in the cultural traditions of our great state."

The Colony joins over 65 other communities in Texas that have received this certification. The recognition highlights efforts to enhance local music industries, contributing to more than 192,000 jobs and generating over $26 billion annually in economic activity statewide.

Senator Tan Parker praised The Colony's achievement, stating, "The Colony’s designation as a Music Friendly Texas Certified Community is a remarkable accomplishment that speaks to Texas' dedication to fostering vibrant, creative spaces."

Similarly, Senator Drew Springer expressed pride in The Colony's commitment to building upon Texas' rich musical heritage. He emphasized that this official designation will benefit both community enrichment and economic development.

Representative Jared Patterson highlighted The Colony as a dynamic hub for music and entertainment within House District 106. Representative Kronda Thimesch echoed these sentiments, noting how this milestone supports local economic growth while preserving musical traditions.

Mayor Richard Boyer celebrated The Colony's integration into TMO's network, saying it elevates their music scene as a destination for talent and community connection. City Manager Troy Powell noted how events like Liberty by the Lake contribute to creating shared experiences for residents and visitors alike.

Keri Samford from The Colony Economic Development Corporation expressed enthusiasm about further establishing The Colony as an entertainment destination: "Earning the Music Friendly Texas Certified Community designation from the State will further establish The Colony and Grandscape as a top destination for entertainment."

The TMO continues its mission since 1990, supporting economic development within Texas' music sector. It acts as an information hub and liaison between music businesses and government offices while attracting industry professionals to Texas.
